Our client needed to know:

- How do they correlate bot spikes with the drop in human clicks?
The Solution: A Custom-Engineered Data Pipeline
We didn't wait for a "feature update" from a third-party tool. Instead, our technical team engineered a bespoke data ecosystem to view and analyze the "invisible" traffic.
- API Extraction: We built a custom integration with the Cloudflare API to programmatically pull daily logs of all automated requests, filtering by Bot Score and User-Agent.
- The BigQuery Warehouse: We funneled this raw JSON data into a Google BigQuery database. This allowed us to transform ephemeral server pings into a structured, historical record of AI interaction.
- Looker Studio Intelligence: We connected this warehouse to a custom Looker Studio dashboard, turning millions of points of data into actionable Business Intelligence.
The Results: A Massive Source of Data Unlocked
The data was a revelation. While organic clicks had dipped, AI bot requests were up over 150% YoY. We discovered that bots weren't just scraping the surface; they were "studying" our deep-funnel content—including json files and raw html. This provided us with two critical agency insights:
- Content Validation: The "missing" organic traffic was actually being successfully syndicated into AI answers. The site wasn't losing relevance; it was becoming the primary source of truth for the world’s leading AI models.
